Polycrystalline silicon, also called polysilicon or poly-Si, which is of high purity, a polycrystalline form of silicon is used as a raw material in the solar photovoltaic and electronic industry.
The photovoltaic industry also produces updated metallurgical silicon (UMG-Si), using metallurgical rather than chemical purification processes.
